- I know that you are concerned about Internet security. So am I! That's why we have built in some of the most advanced security technologies available for an on-line shopping site. The Store portion of ThisIsAnime uses a server which supports advanced 128-bit SSL encryption. Here's how it works:
- SSL encryption is active on our site in all areas where customer information is requested. You can check to see that you have entered an SSL-active area by looking on the bottom of your screen. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending on your browser), you will know that SSL technology is in place and ready to encrypt your information.
- You'll see a key (Netscape) or a closed lock (AOL & Internet Explorer).
- You can also check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When you are in an SSL-active area, the first letters of our website address will change from "http:" to "https:" (the 's' means 'secure').
- When you place your order with my store online, your information is transmitted across the Internet in an encrypted (scrambled) form, which is then decoded when it gets to our computers here. Your personal information, including your credit card information, is safe from prying eyes.

We collect e-mail addresses that are supplied through my optional email mailing list. We also collect e-mail addresses from online orders.
If you have supplied us with your e-mail address, we may contact you with news of new anime products or upcoming events, or send you an on-line newsletter from time to time. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please e-mail us.
We do not trade, rent, or sell e-mail addresses to any other parties - ever - period.
- Postal Addresses
We collect postal addresses from online orders.
If you have supplied us with your postal address, we may contact you with news of new anime products or upcoming events, or mail you a catalog from time to time. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please e-mail us.

We do not retain telephone numbers for purposes other than contacting individuals with a question or information regarding their order.

We do not retain credit card numbers or other payment information for purposes other than processing your secure online orders. After your order is placed, your credit card and other payment information records are securely stored in my computer system. Any hardcopy information that is printed out locally here, and is not sent along with your order (internal copies of credit card transaction receipts, for example) is thoroughly shredded before being disposed of.

- Aggregate Site Statistics
We collect, in aggregate form only, the domain names of visitors to our site, as well as statistics about site sales, traffic patterns, and other related site information. These statistics include no personally identifying information, and will be used only for marketing, sales reporting, or to improve the design of my Web site.

If we decide to make any changes to this Privacy Statement, I'll post those changes here so that you can be informed.

Finding What You Want
From the home page of the store, there are two ways to find what you want:
The home page has direct links to different categories of merchandise, sometimes individual items, and informational sections of the store. Just click on them to proceed to that section.
My store is also fully searchable. Click on the Search button on the home page tool bar, or from the tool bar on any other page, then enter the key words that you want to search for.
Anime Store Jargon: What Does it all Mean?
Wondering what the difference is between a complete set and a boxed set? Here are a few explanations:
- Boxed Set: A Boxed Set is similar to a complete set, except that the manufacturer has released all of the volumes of a particular series in a collectable boxed set, and often represent some of the best anime values around. Boxed sets will be offered in the place if complete sets whenever they are available.
- Complete Set: I most cases, you may purchase all of the videos in a TV series or OVA all at once at a significant discount over the per volume price. Often, I will also bundle movies, or special releases within a common series in order to make ordering them more convenient, and help save you even more money off the regular price.
- Current Release Set: Sometimes it can take more that a year for an anime company to release all of the volumes in a particular series. In some cases, I may offer only the volumes that have been released up to the current time as a bundle (for instance, Vol # 1,2,& 3 of an 8 volume set) to make ordering easier, and to offer a discount over buying the volumes individually.
- Dubbed: Dubbed releases are in dubbed in the English Language.
- Pre Order: Means that the manufacturer has announced the date of release for a title, but it is not yet available to ship. You may still order that title, and it will ship to you on or about the estimated date of release.
- Subtitled: Subtitled releases are in Japanese Language, and have English text subtitles
To Place your Secure Online Order:
Select the items that you want to order by browsing the site, or use the Search engine to find what you want. You'll find detailed product and pricing information on the item pages once you have made your selection.
Order your Anime item by clicking on the "Add to Shopping Cart" button, located next to the item. This will place your item in your "Shopping Cart". From the Cart, you may complete your order by clicking the "Check Out" button.
Note: Most Anime VHS video's are available in either a English Language version (dubbed), or in Japanese Language version with English subtitles (subtitled or subbed). DVD's usually have BOTH languages on them, and may be region encoded. The format of all items at the ThisIsAnime are clearly marked, however, you still need to be careful when ordering these items to ensure that you order the format that you want.
If you decide to "Keep Shopping", you will return to the previous page. You may add additional items using the "Add to Shopping Cart" button from any other page, or may review and complete your order by clicking the "View Cart" button located on the tool bar at the top of any page.
Once in the Shopping Cart screen, select "Check Out" and complete the Shipping and Billing forms. It may take a few second for the Shipping and Billing forms to appear. See the Ordering and Shipping information page for complete ordering information.
At the end of the Billing Form, select "Yes: Place Order". You will be directed to your Order Confirmation, which you may print for your records. Note that if you can see this Confirmation page, then your order has been successfully transmitted. Mission accomplished!
Note: Shortly after your order has been placed, you will receive an e-mail confirming your order, and offering payment instructions if you have elected to pre-pay by check or money order, instead of using a major credit card.
If you click on the Order button and get no response, it is probably because you can't connect securely to my server.
As a test, try going to https://www.microsoft.com secure page. If you can't connect securely to Microsoft either, then you probably are using an outdated browser program, in which case you should upgrade. Or you are behind a corporate firewall that won't allow secure connections. Ask your network administrator to fix it, or order from a different computer.
